Our craft

One maker, one bag, start to finish

Every UKmets bag is cut, skived, edged and stitched by a single maker rather than passed down a line. It is slower, and it is the reason the panels line up and the edges stay closed.

We buy full-grain hides from tanneries that still use vegetable tanning, so the leather darkens and softens with use instead of flaking away from a coated surface.

What you get with every order

The things we will not cut, whatever it costs us.

Full-grain only

Vegetable-tanned hides that darken and soften with wear, never a coated split that peels.

Hand-stitched seams

Saddle-stitched at the stress points, so one broken thread cannot unzip a whole seam.

Free standard shipping

Standard shipping is free on every domestic order, with no minimum spend.

25-day returns

Unused and in its original packaging, send it back within 25 days of purchase.

Questions

Before you order

The things people ask us most. If yours is not here, email us and we will answer it properly.

Ask us something else
How long will my order take to arrive?

Orders are picked, checked and dispatched within 7 business days of payment clearing, and most leave sooner. Standard US delivery is a further 3 to 5 business days after dispatch.

Is shipping really free?

Standard shipping is free on every domestic US order, with no minimum spend. It is applied automatically at checkout. International rates are calculated at checkout.

Do you ship outside the United States?

Yes. We ship to Canada, the UK and Europe, Australia and New Zealand, and much of Asia and the Middle East. Import duties and local taxes are set by your country's customs authority and are payable by the person receiving the parcel.

Can I return something that is not right?

Yes, within 25 days of purchase, unused and in its original packaging with all dust bags and tags. Email us first for return authorisation. Return shipping is paid by you unless the item arrived damaged or was not what you ordered.

What leather do you use?

Full-grain, vegetable-tanned hide throughout, typically 4.5 oz. It darkens and softens with use and develops a patina, rather than flaking away from a coated surface the way corrected or bonded leather does.

Will the colour and grain match the photographs?

Closely, but not exactly. Leather is a natural material and grain, tone and small marks vary from hide to hide. These variations are characteristic of the material, not faults, and are not covered as defects.

What if the stitching or hardware fails?

Stitching, hardware and edges are ours to put right. Tell us what has gone wrong and we will sort it. Damage from misuse, accident or normal wear over time is not covered.

How should I care for it?

Keep it out of prolonged direct sun and away from radiators, let it dry naturally if it gets wet, and condition it a couple of times a year with a neutral leather balm. Avoid silicone-based products and saddle soap on vegetable-tanned leather.

Still unsure which size suits you? Email us and we will talk it through before you buy.
